Email Lists
We have two alumni mailings lists. As of Fall 2026, both are hosted on a Google Group through Brown. The best way to reach the ALs is by emailing brownbandals@gmail.com.
CHECK YOUR SPAM FOR EMAILS! Some email clients will mark our messages as spam. It is very important that you mark our emails as not spam to receive them in your inbox. We also recommend setting a filter to ensure that they don't get sent to spam in the future (see below).
The Mass List
This is the most important list. This is where we send the big updates that you will not want to miss, such as information about alumni games, commencement, and fundraising. Emails are less frequent than the weekly list. If you only wish to be on one list, this is the one to be on.
Subscribe to the list with this link. If you do not have a Google Account, you will not be able to join the group this way. Email the ALs (brownbandals@gmail.com) and you will be sent an invitation.
Unsubscribe (we'll miss you!) with this link.
The Weekly List
This is for regular updates on the band's adventures. Emails are usually weekly during the football and hockey seasons, but will tend to slow down during breaks and later into the spring semester. We recommend being on both this one AND the everything list because we will not send the full details of events to the weekly list. Subscribe if you want the most recent news on how we're doing!
You can subscribe to the list here and unsubscribe here.
Note that if you do not have a Google Account, you will not be able to join the group this way. Email the ALs (brownbandals@gmail.com) and you will be sent an invitation.
Preventing Emails from Going to Spam (General)
Usually, if you add a sender to a contact on whichever service that you use, their messages will not go to spam. So if you add the AL email (brownbandals@gmail.com) to your contacts, it should not go to spam. Instructions for a few common email services are linked below.
Preventing Emails from Going to Spam (Gmail)
To always prevent these emails from going to spam, you can create a filter in Gmail.
First, go to Settings > See all settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses
Then, click "Create a new filter"
In the FROM field, put brownbandals@gmail.com
Then, click "Create filter"
On the next screen, select "Never send it to Spam" and then click "Create filter" to confirm.
This will prevent all emails sent from the AL email from going to spam.
